FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- Is transport available from the Home to Chennai or Tiruvellore ?
The Home is just 300 meters from the Aranvayil Bus Stop on the Poonamalle -Tiruvellore High Road, 11 kms from Thirumazhisai. Tiruvellore is 8 kms away from Home. Buses are frequent, every 15 minutes either way. Manavaala Nagar is 6 kms away where one can get most items.
2. Are News Papers provided?
Home does not provide this. Residents can pay and get it through a local supplier who will deliver at the Home. Already a few residents are getting different Newspapers which are shared.
3. How one should make the monthly payment for stay and food ?
Payment can be made either by Cash, Cheque or Bank Transfer or Google Pay.
4. Is Doctor/ hospital facilities available?
A qualified Doctor from Chennai visits the Home every alternate week for general check up of all the residents. Additional hospitalisation facilities are available in Manavaala Nagar and in Tiruvellore where a few 24×7 Hospitals are available.
5. Are there shops nearby for buying basic necessities?
Smaller shops are available locally for sundry items. Home also assists in getting whatever is needed from Tiruvellore by our employee twice a week.
6. Does one has to wash his/her own plate?
Rough cleaning of the plate has to be done while hand-washing. It is subsequently cleaned well by the Home staff and stored for next use.
7. Daily washing of clothes and Laundry?
A washing-women is available to wash clothes daily at an extra cost to be borne by the Residents. Regular Laundry service is available in Manavaala Nagar.
8. Is there a Manager or an Administrator or Supervisor available ?
Our Manager visits twice (sometimes thrice ) a week based on the need. Other daily needs are taken care of by the two resident Supervisors, the Cooks and the watchman.
9. What is the Security arrangement?
A watchman and his family is staying in the Home and are available for 24 hrs monitoring,
10. What if a person gets sick?
He or she will be immediately taken to a nearby Hospital thro’ an Ambulance by our Staff.
11. What are the arrangements after a resident’s death?
The Resident has to give prior specific instructions in this regard and those shall be followed.
12. Are there banks nearby?
Several reputed Banks are in Manavaala Nagar and Tiruvellore.
13. Describe the room. Does a resident have to bring his/her own bed and sheets, pillows etc?
A cot, mid size Almirah, a table, a chair and a fan are provided. A Resident has to bring his own bedding (mattress) & pillows, bed sheets, two flasks, two buckets, two mugs.
14. What are the hidden costs ?
Extra charges for food for Residents’ visitors; Electricity consumption as per Room-meter ; Milk if required during night/day; washing charges; Assistant-on-call.
15. What about Internet facilities?
Internet has to be arranged by the residents
16. Is Filtered water/ boiled water available?
Yes.
17. Will the resident get help for physiotherapy to treat shoulder pain, leg pain etc.?
Yes, at nominal extra cost. A functional physiotherapy room is available.
18. Do we have to book room in advance?
Rooms are allotted subject to availability. Advance booking is not required.
19. Is the Room cleaning done ?
Yes, all rooms and toilets are cleaned daily.
20. Can one get Hot water for bath?
Yes, Most rooms are equipped with hot water supply. In others, an attender provides it in the room.
21. Is barber service available?
Hair cutting saloons are available nearby.
22. How are the surroundings?
The home is in the midst of an agricultural land of 5 acres with large shady trees and also an organic farm surrounds the Home where vegetables are grown organically. The Home has a few Cows and calf.
23. Is an attender available for persons who are slightly disabled?
Both male/female available at an extra Cost.
24. Are reading materials available?
A small library of about 1,000 books in Tamil and English are available on Religion, philosophy, Novels, poetry etc.
25. Can the residents go out for their personal work?
Yes, prior intimation is required to plan cooking and subject to pandemic regulations.
26. Are there separate Pooja and Recreation rooms available?
Yes
27. Can the Residents keep their own TV or A/C ?
Yes.
